Darcy’s love for hockey started as a young boy. He played all over the country and around the world. He met the love of his life Christina in 1998, and they married three years later in Rosetown, SK. Darcy started his coaching career in Estevan, SK, before becoming Head Coach and GM of the North Peace Navigators in Peace River for many years- leading them to several championships and Provincial Banners. Along with thousands of fans stood two outstanding fans, Darcy’s two boys Carson and Jackson. They weren’t only fans of hockey, Darcy was their hero and they spent most of their lives watching from the stands, jumping on the player or fan buses and hanging out with their dad in his office or with him on the ice. Darcy poured his heart and soul into hockey and was doing amazing things with the Broncos. He had a very clear vision to bring them to a level they haven’t been at for many years, and it was already starting to pay off.
Aside from hockey, Darcy loved fishing. Before the hockey camps and chaos, Darcy would start most summer mornings by enjoying the peaceful quiet of Humboldt Lake with close friends and family. It took him no time at all to settle and really become a huge part of Humboldt’s community. Darcy had a love for Jesus Christ on and off the ice and spent his life sharing the word in all the little things he did. Darcy was a very selfless man and only wanted the best for everyone around him.
